Using embedded Anybus Communication modules in Actuators & Sensors

Intelligent sensors such as barcode readers, RFID scanner, temperature sensors as well as intelligent actuators such as linear actuators are built within a small and compact housing. They are used everywhere in automation technology and are located distributed over the plant, close to the machinery. In the past, most devices have been connected via analog 4 – 20 mA signals or 0 – 10 Volt interfaces. Today increasingly, fieldbus or industrial Ethernet is replacing the analog transmission and most modern sensors and actuators are equipped with fieldbus or Ethernet interfaces.

With the embedded Anybus communication modules, HMS provides ready-to-use connectivity solutions for all types of sensors and actuators. The embedded Anybus modules support cyclic I/O data exchange (used i.e to transfer the scanned barcodes) and acyclic parameter data (used for parameterization of the devices). Thanks to the well defined Anybus application software interface, the internal software of the device can access the cyclic I/O data and acyclic parameter data in a standardized manner, independent of the selected industrial network.
